Project 10 of 10
Client: DDB
Role: UX & UI Design
Year: 2016
The first challenge was mapping out how users would progress through the game and login stages. This process was validated with Rush developers before moving into the wireframe stage.
The aim of the game is to fill in the illustration in the app menu with icons you earn while playing Eye Spy in the app. Icons from the illustration are placed in your surroundings in real time using augmented Reality. The more you spot in your allotted amount of time, the better your icon or reward will be and the faster you can fill your illustration.
The focus was to ensure the user was able to get into the game as easily as possible, taking inspiration from SnapChat, the home screen is the start of the game. The user is straight away engaged with the camera capturing their surroundings and are served up a letter for Eye Spy and can start playing in one tap.
At the end of each game you receive either an icon or a prize. The more icons you find during your turn, the better the icon for your illustration will be. 6 icons and more will earn your rare icons, 3-5 icons will earn you a standard icon and 0-3 icons earns you an easy icon. Prizes are only awarded at random to 6 icon and above games.
To keep users engaged and returning, I added in achievements that can be simple or more difficult to earn. In the menu area of your achievements you can see how many achievements you have unlocked and how many are still waiting to be revealed.
Group play is easily set up, simply add up to 4 players to your game and begin playing Eye Spy. Whoever gets the highest score wins the game.
When using group play, the app records all group play activity specific to the device. The leaderboard displays the order of winners for a single game and also for all group games played on the device, making for great battles during those long summer road trips.
The most important information lives in the swipe up footer nav, minimising clicks for the user to access key information and making redeeming prizes easy-as, no mater where you are in the app.
